Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park
Park in Ungasan (South Bali).
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park fills a former limestone quarry on the Bukit Peninsula. Its centerpiece, designed by sculptor Nyoman Nuarta and completed in 2018, shows the Hindu god Vishnu riding the eagle Garuda and stands 121 meters tall with its pedestal. Paths lead between the cut quarry walls, and Balinese dances are staged during the day; there is little shade, so mornings are cooler.
With children
The giant statue amazes children, and dance performances run through the day in the amphitheatre. There is little shade, so bring hats and go in the morning or late afternoon.
