Jimbaran Beach

Beach in Jimbaran (South Bali).

Jimbaran Beach curves for several kilometers around Jimbaran Bay, a sheltered arc of soft sand with calmer water than the open surf beaches of Kuta and Seminyak. Brightly painted fishing boats rest near the north end, and in the evening restaurants set tables on the sand to grill the day's catch. Sunset is the busiest time, when the beach restaurants fill up.

Jimbaran Beach at a glance

  • For children: Very good (4/5). Soft sand, flat access and seafood cafes; a small shore break is usual, so watch children closely and come on calm mornings.
  • Swimming: Good (3/5). Gentler than Kuta, but a shore break is common; swim on calm days, keep clear of fishing boats and wet-season rubbish.
  • Surfing: Fair (2/5), suits beginners. A sheltered bay, often small or flat; a soft beach break with surf schools works when a big swell closes out Kuta.
  • Snorkeling: Poor (1/5)
  • Sunset: Excellent (5/5)
  • Scenery: Good (3/5)
  • Peace & quiet: Good (3/5)
  • Food & facilities: Very good (4/5)
  • Easy to reach: Excellent (5/5)
  • Sand: Golden sand

Rated from 0 (none) to 5 (excellent), compared with the other beaches on our list.
