Jenggala Paint-a-Pot
Play & adventure in Jimbaran (South Bali).
Jenggala Paint-a-Pot is the ceramic-painting studio at the Jimbaran flagship of Jenggala Keramik, a Bali maker of handmade ceramics founded in 1976, on Jalan Uluwatu II in Jimbaran. Visitors pick an unglazed piece from some forty shapes, among them zodiac-animal mugs, bowls, a piggy bank, a plane and a frog bowl, and paint it with as much help from the staff as they like. Jenggala glazes and fires it in its own kilns, and it is ready to collect within a week.
With children
Children from about three choose a piece and paint it however they like, then come back to find it glazed and shiny; from ten they can shape their own in a clay class. Book ahead and plan a second visit to collect the pieces. Keep little ones close in the showroom of breakable pottery. Clay classes run Wednesday to Sunday.
