Kuta Beach Sea Turtle Conservation
Wildlife in Kuta (South Bali).
The sea turtle conservation centre on Kuta Beach, off Jalan Pantai Kuta, runs a hatchery on the sand where olive ridley turtle eggs laid on the beaches nearby are moved to hatch in safety. In the hatching season, roughly April to October, the young turtles are released into the sea in the late afternoon, often in front of hundreds of visitors; releases are not daily and are announced on the day.
With children
Watching hatchlings scramble to the sea is magic for children from about three. Releases are announced on the day in the hatching season, and people queue from mid-afternoon: one parent can hold the place while the other waits with the children.
