Villa Campuhan Karangasem

Resort in East Bali, Karangasem, Bali.

Villa Campuhan is a group of five timber villas designed by Linda Garland where a river meets the sea at Jasri, south of Amlapura in East Bali, built from recycled ironwood in Minangkabau and Balinese styles around a shared lounge and dining house. It has a heated infinity pool facing the ocean, and two of the villas have their own pools; spa treatments and yoga classes are given on request, and the sea in front is not for swimming.

Highlights

  • Five villas of 700 to 2,500 sq ft (Agung, Suwita, Jasi, Lumbung and Teman), built by Minangkabau carpenters from recycled ironwood poles without nails and furnished with Indonesian antiques (official site).
  • Villa Agung has had its own ocean-facing pool since March 2023, and the honeymoon Villa Suwita, across the river by a bridge, has its own 35 ft pool and a yoga deck (official site).
  • A heated infinity pool facing the ocean, large enough for laps, is shared by all guests (official site).
  • Breakfast is included; the property's chefs serve it and paid lunches and dinners in the Campuhan Lounge, the shared living and dining house, or at the villa (official site).
  • Guests cannot swim in the sea from the property, where the shore is volcanic boulders behind a sea wall; Jasri beach is a minute's walk away (guest reviews, official site, Agoda).
  • Rated 4.5 on Google from about 135 guest reviews.
