Samsara Living Museum
Museum in Jungutan (East Bali).
Samsara Living Museum is a museum of the Balinese life cycle in Jungutan village, Bebandem, on the lower slopes of Mount Agung, about 6 km from Tirta Gangga. Guides explain fourteen rites, from pregnancy to the rite after cremation, on a walk through a two-hectare forest garden of traditional buildings with earth walls and reed roofs, where villagers weave, make offerings, write on palm leaves, work silver and distil arak.
With children
Children from about six watch weaving and palm-leaf writing on the guided walk, and in booked sessions make offerings, join a Balinese dance or genjek singing, or help cook a shared meal. Book sessions a day ahead by WhatsApp, as most need two people or more. It is mostly outdoors, and it closes now and then for village events.
