Double Six Beach

Beach in Legian (South Bali).

Double Six Beach, named after the Double Six nightclub that once stood on its shore, is the stretch of sand where Legian Beach meets Seminyak Beach, at the end of Jalan Arjuna, better known as Jalan Double Six. In the late afternoon beach bars fill the sand with colored beanbags and umbrellas, and people stay on to watch the sun set over the surf. Its beach break draws surfers, but currents can be strong, so take care when swimming.

Double Six Beach at a glance

  • For children: Good (3/5). Wide sand and shallow water to splash in at low tide, with lifeguards close by; waves and currents mean holding hands.
  • Swimming: Fair (2/5). Beach break with currents that can pull swimmers out quickly: swim between the flags, not too deep, and take care at high tide.
  • Surfing: Good (3/5), suits beginners. Mellow sand-bottom peaks lined with surf schools, good for lessons; most waves close out, so little for advanced surfers.
  • Snorkeling: None (0/5)
  • Sunset: Excellent (5/5)
  • Scenery: Good (3/5)
  • Peace & quiet: Poor (1/5)
  • Food & facilities: Excellent (5/5)

Rated from 0 (none) to 5 (excellent), compared with the other beaches on our list.
