Tanjung Benoa

Bali's water sports peninsula (South Bali)

About Tanjung Benoa

Tanjung Benoa is the narrow peninsula running north from Nusa Dua. Its calm, reef-protected lagoon is Bali's water sports hub, with parasailing, jet skis and glass-bottom boats to Turtle Island. Beachfront resorts are more relaxed than inside Nusa Dua's gates, and the old fishing village keeps a Chinese temple, a mosque and a Hindu temple side by side.

Resorts in Tanjung Benoa

Sights in Tanjung Benoa

  • Caow Eng Bio (temple). Caow Eng Bio is a Chinese temple in the old fishing village near the northern tip of Tanjung Benoa, said to have been founded by sailors from Hainan centuries ago. Its red halls hold shrines to a sea goddess and other deities, and a Hindu temple stands close by. Visitors are welcome outside ceremonies; dress modestly and ask before photographing worshippers.

Beaches in Tanjung Benoa

  • Tanjung Benoa Beach (beach). Tanjung Benoa Beach lines the east side of the narrow peninsula north of Nusa Dua, facing a shallow lagoon sheltered by a reef. It is the base for Bali's water sports, with parasailing, jet skis, banana boats and glass-bottom boat trips leaving from the sand. Jet skis and speedboats share the water, so swimmers do best to stay clear of the activity zones.
