Desa Coklat Bali
Play & adventure in Marga (Central Bali).
Desa Coklat Bali is the chocolate village of CAU Chocolates, on the grounds of its factory and organic cacao farm in Tua, Marga, among rice fields in the Tabanan hills, 40 to 50 minutes' drive from Ubud. Opened in 2020, it follows chocolate from bean to bar: walks lead past cacao seedlings and trees, with fresh fruit to taste, to fermentation and the factory, and visitors mould their own bars to take home. A restaurant serves raw-cocoa ice cream, and a visit pairs with Jatiluwih.
With children
Children pick and taste fresh cacao fruit on the farm walk, watch beans become chocolate and mould a bar to take home; longer tours add making Balinese offerings and a dance lesson. The walk-in sessions of an hour or two need no booking and suit young children best. Bring hats, repellent and closed shoes for the farm paths.
