Junglegold Chocolate Factory
Play & adventure in Mengwi (Central Bali).
Junglegold Chocolate Factory, formerly Pod Chocolate, is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker on the Denpasar–Singaraja road at Werdi Bhuwana in Mengwi, on the way up to Bedugul. Founded in 2010, it makes plant-based chocolate from Indonesian cacao. A free self-guided walk passes the roasting, grinding and moulding, with displays and tastings, and a guided tour starts in a demonstration cacao plantation. It has a café and a shop, and pairs well with Taman Ayun.
With children
Children watch machines turn cacao beans into chocolate and taste it along the way; in the make-your-own-bar session they choose a chocolate and toppings and mould a bar to take home. The walk needs no booking, but the bar session must be booked ahead. The chocolate is dairy-free; check the labels for nuts if a child has an allergy.
