Sanur Beach
Beach in Sanur (South Bali).
Sanur Beach runs for several kilometers down the east coast of south Bali, with a reef offshore that keeps the water calm and shallow. A paved beach path, busy with walkers and cyclists, links hotels, cafes and the harbor where boats leave for the Nusa islands. The beach faces east, so early morning is the time for the sunrise.
Sanur Beach at a glance
- For children: Very good (4/5). Calm, shallow water inside the reef; at low tide it drains to sea grass with sea urchins, so come at high water in reef shoes.
- Swimming: Very good (4/5). Calm behind the reef, but very shallow at low tide with sea grass and coral underfoot; best swum around high tide.
- Surfing: Fair (2/5), for experienced surfers. Flat at the shore; fickle reef breaks offshore work on big wet-season swells, reached by boat, for experienced surfers.
- Snorkeling: Fair (2/5)
- Sunset: Poor (1/5)
- Scenery: Good (3/5)
- Peace & quiet: Good (3/5)
- Food & facilities: Excellent (5/5)
- Easy to reach: Excellent (5/5)
- Sand: White sand
Rated from 0 (none) to 5 (excellent), compared with the other beaches on our list.
