Bingin Beach

Beach in Pecatu (South Bali).

Bingin Beach is a small white-sand beach at the foot of steep cliffs on the west coast of the Bukit Peninsula, reached by a steep walk down from the clifftop. Its left-hand reef break is one of the Bukit's classic surf spots, and the bottom is reef and rock, so water shoes help. In July 2025 the authorities demolished dozens of unlicensed cliffside cafes and guesthouses; the beach stays open, but rubble and rough access remain while the area is redeveloped.

Bingin Beach at a glance

  • For children: Poor (1/5). Steep, broken path down, a shallow reef shore with surf and little on the sand: not a beach for children.
  • Swimming: Poor (1/5). Rock and coral underfoot and surf breaking on shallow reef; only a paddle in the rock pools at high tide.
  • Surfing: Very good (4/5), for experienced surfers. A short, hollow left over shallow reef, crowded with skilled surfers; low tide is for experts only.
  • Snorkeling: Poor (1/5)
  • Sunset: Good (3/5)
  • Scenery: Good (3/5)
  • Peace & quiet: Very good (4/5)
  • Food & facilities: Fair (2/5)
  • Easy to reach: Fair (2/5)
  • Sand: White sand

Rated from 0 (none) to 5 (excellent), compared with the other beaches on our list.
